Transport infrastructure plays a vital role in connecting communities and supporting economic activity across the South West. Rail, sustainable transport, road, ports, aviation and logistics networks all work together to enable the movement of people and goods throughout the region. The South West faces considerable challenges related to connectivity, capacity and resilience, including pressure on key transport corridors and the impacts of geography and climate; but there are significant opportunities to collaborate across boundaries and sectors to deliver genuinely joined-up connectivity that meets the needs of those it is designed to serve. SWIP explores how a this approach can underpin transport planning, investment and operation across the region.
